Getac has launched the Getac RX10, a portable and lightweight rugged tablet for field service. It features a 10.1″, LCD FHD LumiBond 2.0 display for easy readability, even in direct sunlight, as well as Getac’s proprietary technology that enhances screen sensitivity in wet environments while using a stylus, digitiser or even gloves.

The device has an ergonomic handle and also comes with a detachable rubber keyboard and kickstand, making it a 2-in-1 laptop and tablet device. It provides up to 8 h of battery life on a single charge, while the LifeSupport hot-swappable design allows users to swap the main battery and replace it with a fresh one without having to shut down the operating system.

The product’s multifactor authentication includes password protection, RFID, a fingerprint reader and smartcard reader, as well as TPM 2.0 that also enhances security for keeping confidential information secure. For connectivity, the device incorporates Intel’s wireless AC 7265, which delivers 802.11ac speeds with lower power consumption and optional 4G LTE. For vehicle deployments, it can be configured with tri pass-through antenna ports, allowing users to simultaneously connect high-gain GPS, WWAN and WLAN roof-mounted antennas for expanded signal range.

The device operates in temperatures from -5.8 to 55°C, and is also certified for MIL-STD 810G and IP65, meaning the unit is built to survive drops, vibration, water, dust and extreme temperatures.
