Honeywell Solaris 7980g retail scanner
Honeywell has unveiled the Solaris 7980g scanner, suitable for retailers who need to address the growing mobile payment space.
The vertical slot scanner has the ability to read 2D barcodes off mobile phone screens allowing shoppers to use their personal mobile devices in place of credit cards and retail loyalty cards. The scanner is designed to work with mobile payment offerings such as Apple Pay and Google Wallet, which enable consumers to pay for goods with a simple tap, as well as receive and earn loyalty points, discounts and promotions directly to their digital devices.
With strong imaging technology and using a white LED light, the scanner can still read traditional 'flat' barcodes (1D barcodes), but also features a capacitive touch button to read 2D barcodes displayed on electronic devices. The scanner is simple to install with integrated EAS and power-over-USB, and comes with an auxiliary USB port for scanner connectivity.
