Huawei P9 and P9 Plus smartphones
Huawei has launched the P9 and P9 Plus smartphones that feature a dual-lens camera co-engineered with Leica Camera AG, allowing people to capture both vivid colours and striking black and white images.
The product’s Hybrid Focus technology ensures images are captured with speed, accuracy and stability. Featuring 2.5D glass and an aerospace-class aluminium, the 64 GB version comes in a Haze Gold finish. The P9 comes with a 5.2″ 1080p display and is powered by the Kirin 955 2.5 GHz 64-bit ARM-based processor and a 3000 mAh high-density battery. By comparison, the P9 Plus features a 5.5″ Press Touch display and a larger 3400 mAh battery. It also offers dual-IC Rapid Charge, giving users 6 h of talk time after a 10 min charge.
Key to the imaging capabilities of both models is a dual-camera design powered by Leica’s optical lenses, known for their precision, and subject to stringent quality screening requirements. The RGB camera captures colour, while the monochrome camera captures picture detail. The two rear cameras work in tandem to enable users to create images with good detail, depth and colour. The device also works well in low light conditions as the dual-camera design offers the ability to capture more light and detail. Users may choose between three film modes: Standard, Vivid Colors and Smooth Colors.
