LG Electronics (LG) has unveiled the LG G5 smartphone, which features a sleek metal body and modular design. The device is available in silver, titan, gold and pink.

The smartphone comes with two cameras on the rear, one with a standard 78° lens (16 MP) and the other with a 135° (8 MP) wide-angle lens camera. LG claims this lens offers a viewing angle that is approximately 1.7 times wider than existing smartphone cameras and 15° wider than the human eye’s field of view, allowing users to more easily capture landscapes, taller buildings or larger groups of people without having to position themselves further away.

The device is built around a 5.3″, 2560 x 1440 pixel LCD display featuring a Snapdragon 820 processor and 4 GB of RAM. It also contains 2 TB of microSD removable storage and a slide-out 2800 mAh removable battery, accessible through the base of the phone, since the device has a non-removable, fully metal back.

The product is being introduced with a wide range of companion devices called LG Friends to provide a new mobile experience, including 360 CAM, which offers a 360° angle camera; 360 VR, which is a VR goggle that can be connected to the smartphone; a Rolling Bot, which is a device that rolls like a ball while capturing images and videos that can also be used as a security system for the home, as a pet-care companion as well as a remote controller for compatible home appliances; and TONE Platinum, which is a Bluetooth headset.

Other features include: Android 6.0 Marshmallow operating system; LTE/3G/2G network; and Wi-Fi 802.11 a, b, g, n, ac, USB Type-C 2.0 (3.0 compatible), NFC and Bluetooth 4.2.
