NSW Govt seeking applicants for AI Advisory Committee
The NSW Government is calling for people with expertise in all areas relating to AI implementation, as well as those actively engaged in the technical, legal, regulatory, ethical or academic area of AI design, to take part in the newly established Artificial Intelligence Advisory Committee.
The Advisory Committee follows the launch of the AI Strategy that was released by the NSW Government in September, designed to create jobs and deliver smarter and better services to citizens across NSW.
The committee will be chaired by the NSW Government’s Chief Data Scientist, Dr Ian Oppermann, and will help build community trust in the use of AI. Dr Oppermann said the committee will provide ongoing expert advice to government agencies and will reflect a range of professional backgrounds from various sectors.
The committee will also provide a forum for the discussion and escalation of emerging or identified risks and facilitate collaboration, cooperation and positive partnerships across government, industry and academia.
“The AI Advisory Committee will play a central role in supporting the AI assurance framework which is to be developed under the Strategy,” said Dr Oppermann. Alongside Dr Oppermann and the committee’s core membership, experts with knowledge in a relevant area may be invited to attend to contribute as required by the committee.
Those interested in joining the committee are invited to submit an expression of interest that includes a one-page letter and CV through the following link by 15 December 2020: https://iworkfor.nsw.gov.au/job/ai-advisory-committee-220148.
