ACSC calls on SMBs to participate in cybersecurity survey
The Australian Cyber Security Centre (ACSC) is calling on small to medium-sized businesses (SMBs) to fill out a survey that explores people’s views on and understanding of cybersecurity.
According to the ACSC, Australian SMBs are taking more steps to improve their cybersecurity and almost 90% are seeking more resources to understand and tackle cyber threats. However, other research showed that the majority of businesses believe that they are safe from cyber attacks because they use antivirus software. This lack of understanding of good cybersecurity practices could make them more vulnerable to cybercrime.
As a result, the ACSC is looking to find out what SMBs think about cybersecurity and what information SMBs want and need to help them protect themselves, their customers and their suppliers from criminal activity, according to ACSC Head Rachel Noble.
The survey data will be used to enhance the ACSC’s existing cybersecurity advice online.
Already, hundreds of businesses have taken part in the survey since it was released throughout peak and other business bodies earlier this year and a further 2.3 million Australians received the survey via the Australian Taxation Office’s Small Business Newsroom this week.
SMB owners, operators and employees can access the survey via the ACSC’s website.
