Infosys Melbourne 5G Living Lab opens

The Melbourne 5G Living Lab has just been launched by Infosys, designed to help service providers monetise 5G network deployment.

This lab will also assist organisations in becoming live enterprises by imagining and creating new economies with 5G technology.

Melbourne is the second 5G Living Lab to be launched after Bangalore, which was launched in March 2019. Infosys’s network of 5G Living Labs will be completed in five global locations — Bengaluru, Melbourne, Richardson (UK), Indianapolis (US) and Frankfurt (Germany) — to help ideate and bring these new economies to life.

As an ecosystem integrator, the Infosys 5G Living Lab in Melbourne will enable clients and partners to explore, develop and deploy 5G solutions and bring to life use cases to accelerate their digital transformation journey.

It will provide a simulated 5G environment for rapid experimentation of new technologies, combining the best of emerging technologies expertise in areas like IoT, AR, VR and AI and unique design thinking to address and test the following:

• Defining business use cases and ROI
• Co-creating and innovating solutions and use cases
• Creating proofs of concept (PoCs) using its solution and accelerators along with technology providers and partners
• Testing and validating the solutions
• Act as a showcase ground for Infosys, partners and customers
   

5G will transform network capabilities, bringing in significant opportunities for network virtualisation, AI and automation while considerably lowering associated costs and enhancing the delivery of network-based services, IT systems and applications. More importantly, 5G will enable enterprises to create new experiences and services, and improve operational efficiency across organisations.
