nbn signs final MTM construction agreements
nbn has signed the last of the construction agreements for the Multi Technology Mix (MTM) model of the NBN rollout, selecting existing construction partners Fulton Hogan and Visionstream.
Under the four-year design and construction master agreements with the two companies, Fulton Hogan and Visionstream will handle construction for new housing developments and fibre links.
The companies were selected through a multistage tender process. The agreements will support the deployment of the NBN to around 450,000 new development premises and 150 transit fibre links nationwide.
Transit fibre is the all-fibre backbone of the NBN, spanning around 140,000 km of fibre links nationwide. Fibre links are the connections between this backbone and the fixed wireless or HFC last-mile components.
According to nbn Chief Network Engineering Officer Peter Ryan, the agreements have been developed to allow combined design and construction delivery based on a scale-focused, end-to-end, performance-driven and outcomes-based model.
“These new DCMA agreements provide us with the agility to deploy the [NBN] to new homes in greenfield developments and in-fill brownfield areas,” he said.
Fulton Hogan and Visionstream are already multitechnology integrated master agreement delivery partners for the NBN project.
