New CFO for NBN Co

A new chief financial officer (CFO) has just been appointed at NBN Co.

Philip Knox will take over the role on Wednesday, 6 February.

Knox joins NBN Co with over 30 years of financial experience, having most recently been CFO at APN Outdoor. He also held CFO roles at the Garvan Institute of Medical Research and Austar. From his time at Austar, Knox has extensive experience in delivering telecommunications services across regional and remote Australia.

Stephen Rue, Chief Executive Officer, said Knox joins at the same time that nearly three in four Australians can now connect to the nbn access network.

“I am delighted to welcome Phil to NBN Co at such an exciting stage of the rollout. Phil is an accomplished financial executive with extensive experience across the technology and media industries,” Rue said.

“Phil has an outstanding track record of delivery and hands-on experience across key financial disciplines that will be critical in the final two years of the rollout.”

“I have keenly watched the rollout of the nbn access network over the years and during that time been impressed at the scale and achievements of the company. I’m excited to join NBN Co and play my role in helping to enable Australia’s digital future,” Knox said.

Knox’s appointment followed an extensive global recruitment process undertaken by an executive search firm following Stephen Rue’s appointment as Chief Executive in August 2018.
