Tritium wins Qld's Exporter of the Year Award

The 2018 Premier of Queensland’s Exporter of the Year Award has been won by an electric vehicle charging company.

Brisbane technology firm Tritium received the award at a ceremony in Brisbane.

Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk congratulated Tritium, which has developed electronic systems and battery energy-storage applications to boost EV charging speeds, and was the first company to receive support through her government’s Queensland Business Development Fund.

“Tritium is a Queensland success story and is contributing to Queensland’s record merchandise export figures, while also supporting a cleaner and healthier environment here and around the world,” Palaszczuk said.

“Queensland Government funding has helped Tritium establish its headquarters and main manufacturing plant in Brisbane with additional sales and manufacturing in two key markets in Europe and the United States, leading to 97% of revenue in 2018 being generated by export sales.

“Queensland is an export state with almost one out of every four dollars Australia earns from goods exports generated right here, so it is important we acknowledge and celebrate our export champions with these awards.”

The latest national export figures from the Australian Bureau of Statistics show Queensland’s merchandise exports reached a record high of $75.4 billion to July 2018. This is an increase of 10% year-on-year.

“I would like to thank all exporters throughout Queensland for contributing to our fantastic goods export figures, and I congratulate every business nominated for an award,” Palaszczuk said.

There are 17 categories in the 2018 Premier of Queensland’s Export Awards. The winners of the industry awards will be automatically entered in the Australian Export Awards, held in Canberra on 27 November 2018.
