Veeam releases latest version of Kasten for Kubernetes
Data resilience company Veeam has released Kasten for Kubernetes v7.5, the latest version of the company’s Kubernetes resilience, recovery and mobility platform.
The update introduces features such as the ability to provide seamless protection for both virtual machines and containerised applications under a unified solution, through the introduction of support for Red Hat OpenShift Virtualisation and SUSE Virtualisation. The release also introduces enhanced security and compliance capabilities, including multi-cluster support for the US Federal Information Processing Standards and immutable restore point visibility.
Veeam says it has meanwhile developed performance enhancements that promise substantial improvements in key metrics, including a threefold improvement in backup time for volumes containing 10 million small files.
Meanwhile, the Veeam Kasten data management platform has been integrated with Infinidat’s InfiniBox enterprise storage for seamless backup and recovery, and for joint data protection and storage solutions developed in collaboration with NetApp.
Veeam VP of Product Management Gaurav Rishi said the new capabilities have been designed to meet evolving demand for virtualisation solutions.
“Looking ahead in 2025, we anticipate a significant expansion in modern virtualisation options, both in terms of the variety of vendors and the CPU architectures supported, as well as the depth of capabilities offered. An example of this broadening is the enhanced support of Red Hat OpenShift Virtualisation as well as initial support for SUSE Virtualisation, being introduced in Kasten v7.5,” he said. “Additionally, we foresee advancements in cyber resilience, including proactive threat detection and secure self-service restore features, which will enhance overall data protection strategies for Kubernetes environments.”
