Diasaster recovery relief offered to Queensland businesses
StorageCraft has partnered with VMvault to provide relief with disaster recovery infrastructure to Queensland flood victims. The two companies are setting up IT infrastructure for temporary disaster recovery centres for thousands of ShadowProtect customers who are victims of Queensland’s flooding. According to reports, thousands of small and medium businesses will have lost their servers and IT infrastructure as well as potentially their data.
StorageCraft is appealing to service providers, ISPs and server hosting companies to donate space for those customers who have been affected by the flooding to help businesses bring their critical systems online.
The first company to respond is Brisbane-based specialist hosting provider VMvault, which has made available capacity on its clusters and space on its servers.
VMvault spokesman Radek Tkaczyk said: “Our servers are high and dry in Wharf Street, Brisbane, availing our clients with uninterrupted access to their virtual servers, as we are equipped with multiple redundancies in all primary systems including power, UPS, network and cooling.
“We also have an on-site generator on our building’s roof, with 48 hours’ worth of fuel. We are pleased to be able to offer server capacity on our primary and secondary clusters to the flood victims to get their businesses back up and running with a VMvault virtual server, free of charge, as our hearts go out to all those affected by the Queensland floods.”
Greg Wyman, StorageCraft Vice President Asia Pacific, said: “We hear that thousands of businesses and other organisations have lost their servers beneath the rising flood waters, and we are determined to help them. It is unlikely that there are thousands of new or pre-used servers available in Australia to replace those damaged by floods, so it is essential that companies like VMvault provide space for disaster recovery operations.”
Richard Giddey, StorageCraft Vice President Asia Pacific, said: “We are in the process of setting up the infrastructure and hotlines for customers over the next few days to provide assistance to them as the flood waters recede and they return to work to help ensure they can recover their data and businesses.”
Flood victims should contact VMvault on 1300 513 262 or email floodrelief@vmvault.com.au to obtain more information on how to move their ShadowProtect server to their DR infrastructure. StorageCraft has set up a hotline for flood victims on (02) 8061 4455.
