Foxtel expands Wi-Fi 6 offer with CommScope gateways
Foxtel has expanded its relationship with CommScope in a deal that will see the pay TV provider provide CommScope’s NVG488 Wi-Fi 6 residential gateways to its residential broadband customers.
The new gateways will provide customers with concurrent Wi-Fi support for 802.11 b/g/n/ax on 2.4 GHz and 802.11ac/ax on 5 GHz to improve performance and enable seamless HD video streaming over Wi-Fi.
Depending on their last mile connection type, customers will be able to use three or four Gigabit Ethernet ports for high-speed home networking. The gateway also supports simultaneous use of phone, video and high-speed data over a bonded or single copper pair, as well as IPTV video.
Foxtel Head of Broadband Product Management Cameron Wheeler said the agreement represents Foxtel’s latest initiative to improve the home broadband experience for customers.
“As Foxtel continues to evolve our technology offerings with more streaming set top boxes, we are delighted to collaborate with our valued technology partner, CommScope, to launch the new NVG448 Gateway, designed to maintain faster speeds across more devices,” he said.
“It’s an integral part of the delivery of our content, so our broadband customers can continue to enjoy all their favourite shows, sport and movies along with all their home internet needs.”
