HP ProLiant G7 servers

Thursday, 15 December, 2011

HP has introduced ProLiant G7 servers featuring AMD Opteron 6200 series processors.

It is claimed they can improve data centre efficiency, scalability and performance up to 30% to support large-scale, virtualised and database workloads.

The ProLiant servers include BL465c G7, BL685c G7, DL385 G7, DL585 G7 and DL165 G7.

The servers use 2048 cores per rack and 33% more cores for concurrent high-performance computing workloads.

It is claimed the servers also improve dual socket database engine performance throughput by up to a 40% over the previous generations of ProLiant servers based on AMD Opteron processors.

To help organisations achieve the advantages of virtualisation, the servers offer lower cost per virtual machine compared to previous generations. The servers can consolidate physical dual-socket servers at a ratio of 23 to 1, increasing the number of virtual machines supported on a single blade platform.

The servers also include Integrated Lights-Out (iLO 3), a server management tool enabling remote monitoring for reduced maintenance costs. Additionally, the servers offer Virtual Connect, enabling clients to connect servers and virtual machines to a variety of networks.
